Maely Gold Born
Maely Gold Born is my granddaughter, born to Megan and Matt Born on June 27th, 2015. Early prenatal testing determined that Maely had a rare condition called Fibular Hemimelia, found in approximately 1 in 40,000 births. Megan & Matt feel honored that God has chosen them as parents to this very special child.
Fibular Hemimelia (FH) affects children in various ways. Maely was born without a Fibula in her right leg, and her right foot was not developed completely. On May 10th, Maely's right foot was amputated, and soon, she'll be fitted for a prosthetic foot.
During the past several months, Matt, Megan and Maely have visited with several pediatric orthopedic surgeons, and have decided to have the surgery at Shriners Hospital in Chicago.
Shriners Hospitals for Children are located throughout North America, and they will never reject patients based on the patient's ability to pay for services. In fact, Shriners' #1 source of funds is from donations.
On May 14, 2016, I will compete in Ironman Texas, hoping to complete my 5th Ironman Triathlon. The Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run. This year, I'm racing for Maely, and I'm hoping to finish the race in less than 13 1/2 hours.
100% of your donations will help children receive much needed services from Shriners Hospitals for Children throughout North America. I hope that you'll join me in donating to this incredibly worthy cause.
