Charity Tennis Tournament

Dear Sir/ Madam,
My name is Nisha Rajamohan and I am a junior at Waterford High School. I play tennis on my school's varsity team. This year, my teammate and I wanted to organize a charity tennis tournament on September 7th 2013 at Waterford High school, CT. The proceeds will all go to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Shriners Hospital for Children is a non-profit organization established in 1920. Twenty- two of these hospitals have been established across North America. Shriners Hospital specializes in treating children less than eighteen years of age with any orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, cleft lip, and cleft palate. The unique aspect that Shriners possess is that they allow children to receive their services regardless of whether the parents are able to pay. Shriners also provides education to medical professionals and conducts research to discover new technologies that improve quality of life for children with debilitating conditions.
Shriners hospital is significant to me because I am a patient there. I was born without a full right arm. It only goes to my elbow. Shriner's provides me with a prosthetic arm that I wear all day. Without the prosthetic arm, I could not serve, or hit a decent backhand. Other aspects of my life would be incredibly tough as well. I probably would not be as confident about anything as I am now. Even though the hospital's goal was to simply give me an arm, they gave me motivation to be successful ever since I was six months old. I constantly compete in USTA tournaments and practice every day. During the past school tennis season, I made it to the semifinals of the Southeastern Connecticut ECC tournament. I also made it to the second round of the Connecticut State championship that took place at Yale University. If I did not have my prosthetic arm, I would not have accomplished any of these.
With our charity tournament, I would like to show my appreciation towards Shriner's Hospital. I would sincerely appreciate it if your corporation would consider supporting my cause and sponsor this tournament. Not only will the money go to the hospital, but it will also provide courage and motivation to thousands of kids like me, making them realize that anything is possible if they put their minds to it. This tournament will also hopefully raise awareness of Shriner's Hospitals and encourage them to create more hospitals and help more kids around the world. Together we are transforming the lives and building brighter futures, but without you it just wouldn't be possible. Thank you so much for your support. Should you have any questions or require additional information, I can be reached at 860 701 0601.

Sincerely

Nisha Rajamohan
