The Lucky Cast Club is a network of families undergoing treatment for Progressive Infantile Scoliosis. Our children start treatment using Serial Derotational Casting, aka Mehta Casting. The process involves a series of full torso casts applied in the OR under general anesthesia, using traction, spinal manipulation and casting. The process allows the Orthopedic Surgeons to manipulate their tiny spines straight, cast them in a straight positiion and allow them growth in their new straight position for 8-16 weeks. The process is repeated several times over their infant and toddler years, harnessing the bodies own rapid growth to correct their scoliosis. Once children can hold correction on their own, typically under 10 degrees they move to bracing through adolescents! A large majority of our children are casted at Shriner's Hospital for Children, Chicago, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, Greenville, Philly, & Portland. In a spirit of Thanks and Giving, we want to give back! Make an in kind donation in honor of the amazing work these centers provide. Choose the casting center responsible for helping your family and friends hero, share with others! We thank you for your support!
