Q. Is donating through an online fundraising page safe?

A. Yes. Our Web site provides a very high level of security to protect our donors’ credit and debit card information during the donation process. The security is achieved through the use of internet security (SSL) protocol that encrypts file details so that they are secure when traveling over the internet. For more information about donor privacy and security, click Privacy Policy.

Q: What information about individual donors gets released to the organizer of a personal fundraising page?

A. As the champion of a personal fundraising page you will be able to see who has donated to your fund. In order to protect the donor’s privacy, however, you will not be able to see the amount donated by the individual. You will be able to see the amount collectively donated to your fund.

Q. How can I best promote my fundraising page to my friends and family?

A. The most successful online fundraisers are those that get their message out to as many of their friends, family and colleagues as possible. The key to all of these ideas is telling a compelling and personal story about why you were inspired you to make a difference in the lives of the children at Shriners Hospitals for Children®. This is especially important in motivating friends or family members that do not know about mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children® or how you are connected to the cause. Here are some ideas for promoting your efforts:

Use the e-mail tools within the Champion Center. Log in to the Champion Center and click the “Address Book” tab. Upload your e-mail contact list or manually enter e-mail addresses. Then, click the “Email” tab and choose from sample e-mail appeals that you can customize and send to your friends. Use the “Follow Up” tab to keep track of who you have e-mailed and who has donated.
